Vice-President, Development & Distribution at Muse Entertainment, Jesse Prupas produced his first teen series in 2008, the live-action comedy Family Biz (YTV/France 2) and managed to greenlit Muse’s first animated project, a mystery series for 6-9 year-olds titled The Mysteries of Alfred Hedgehog (TVO/TFO/SRC/France 5). Prupas is also an associate producer on the on the award-winning and critically-acclaimed series Durham County (TMN/Movie Central/Ion), which is now in its third season.
Prupas produced four TV movies in 2007: The Watch, Too Young To Marry, I Me Wed and Girl’s Best Friend. That same year he served as associate producer on four other TV movies: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Black Swarm, Swamp Devil and Infected. In 2006, he produced three TV movies: Proof of Lies, House Sitter and Tipping Point. And in 2005, he produced the TV movies Mind Over Murder and Black Widower.
In 2009, Prupas will continue with the production of The Mysteries of Alfred Hedgehog and will also be developing a new slate of dramatic and comedy series, TV movies, mini-series and feature films for Canadian, US and international buyers.
Prupas is also responsible all Muse Entertainment’s New Media and web-based projects. In 2004 he developed the website to accompany the critically acclaimed series This is Wonderland (CBC) and in 2005 he obtained a Bell Fund grant to develop See Robin Jones (Nickelodeon) as an interactive website and pilot for tweens. Staple Kevin was Prupas’ next multimedia project and was a built as a viral-marketing campaign for the feature film Niagara Motel. In 2009 Prupas oversaw the production of the website for Family Biz (www.familybiztv.com) and its accompanying web-videos and is currently producing an interactive game to accompany The Mysteries of Alfred Hedgehog, which has obtained funding from the Bell Fund, the CTF, TVO, TFO, Radio-Canada and France.5.
Prupas also oversees Muse Distribution International and is responsible for selling television and new media content in Canada, the United States and around the world. He is also a development executive at Just For Laughs Muse Comedy Production (www.justamuse.com) Muse Entertainment’s joint-venture with Just For Laughs, which is focused on the development and production television comedies and comedic feature films.
Jesse Prupas got his break in the industry as a writer on the animated series Mona the Vampire (Cinar/YTV/France 2) and as a unit department intern on the teen series Student Bodies. Prupas is a graduate of Columbia University, the United World College of the Atlantic and Lower Canada College. He is an avid gamer, skier, swimmer and yoga practitioner.
