Two-Day Event Focuses on the Dollars and Sense of Digital Media
Case Studies Look at How Licensing and Sponsorship Deals
Are Making Money for Digital Media Producers and Distributors
Toronto, ON [August 26, 2008] -- nextMEDIA - Monetizing Digital Media returns to Toronto with an event devoted to the dollars and sense of digital media. The urban equivalent of the popular nextMEDIA - Future of Digital Media conference, held annually in Banff, Alberta, nextMEDIA promises a full program of keynote speakers, in-depth case studies and topic-driven panels focused on the new economy of reputation, attention and customer engagement. This is the second year for the event, which is produced by Toronto-based Achilles Media Ltd.
"This is an event that anyone involved in media will not want to miss," says Mark Greenspan, Director of Digital Content at Achilles Media. "To understand and profit from the changing media market, organizations must know what business strategies are working. To that end, we will deliver a conference that looks at the five revenue sources that are making money for digital producers and distributors."
nextMEDIA has already confirmed Susan Bonds, President & CEO of 42 Entertainment (http://www.42entertainment.com) and Alexandra Levy, Director, Google Branded Entertainment (http://www.google.com) as speakers. Each will present a case study focused on how their respective organizations are making money through branded entertainment, sponsorship and licensing deals.
Susan Bonds comes to nextMEDIA with a presentation detailing 42 Entertainment's forays into branded entertainment and sponsorship. In particular, Ms. Bonds will speak to her company's involvement in the production of an innovative alternate reality game for Warner Bros. summer blockbuster, The Dark Knight. An award-winning Interactive producer, Susan has produced all of 42's projects, including 2006's Last Call Poker (Activision), Dead Man's Tale (Disney and MSN) and 2007's The Vanishing Point, the first global puzzle game.
Alexandra Levy unveils the workings behind Google's bold step into the distribution business with a presentation that focuses on the company's plans to syndicate a new animation series by Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy"). The series, entitled "Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy," carries a multimillion-dollar production price tag and is the first original content play to be distributed using the AdSense advertising system. Prior to joining Google in 2007, Alex was the Director of Business Development at MTV Networks in New York, where she managed a national multi-media New Business team that sold on-air, online, digital, and multi-screen packages to a national client base.
Other confirmed speakers include: James Cooper, Creative Director, Another Anomaly (http://www.anomalynyc.com/another/); Jordan Hoffner, Head of Content Partnerships, YouTube (http://www.youtube.com); Mitch Joel, President, Twist Image (http://www.twistimage.com/); and Rachel Masters, VP of Strategic Relationships, NING.com (http://www.ning.com/),
Attendees at nextMEDIA will also be able to attend the Canadian New Media Awards (http://www.cnma.ca/), which takes place Tuesday, November 18th, the opening night of nextMEDIA. Now in its 8th year, the Canadian New Media Awards recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of individuals and companies in the Canadian new media industry.
