A Grassroots Event
nextMEDIA-The International Interactive Media Festival-is a three-day event that connects the country's brightest and most promising leaders in media, government and industry.
nextMEDIA is a grassroots event. The impetus for nextMEDIA, first held in 1997 in Sydney, Nova Scotia was to provide an annual creative retreat to help foster an innovative, vibrant and productive industry; to showcase the work of producers and professionals; and to deliver a unique and inspirational experience. Since then the festival has been held in Baddeck, Nova Scotia and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Over the years, nextMEDIA has hosted inspiring keynote speakers including BBC's Ashley Highfield and Microsoft researcher Curtis Wong.
nextMEDIA 2005 will take place in the Canadian Rockies at both The Banff Centre and the Fairmont Banff Springs. This year's festival is a celebration, a recognition that what once was new media is now integral to entertainment, government, academia and industry.
