Bill Buxton’s personal mantra is as follows: `Ultimately, we are deluding ourselves if we think that the products that we design are the “things” that we sell, rather than the individual, social and cultural experience that they engender, and the value and impact that they have. Design that ignores this is not worthy of the name.” In the span of a 30-year career, Bill Buxton has been awarded the ‘Visionary of the Year’ Award at the Canadian New Media Awards, listed as one of the 10 most influential innovators in Hollywood by Hollywood Reporter and named one of the top five designers in Canada by Time Magazine. For the past two years, Bill has been Principal Researcher at Microsoft Corporation, where he has consulted on Microsoft Surface, the first commercially available surface computer. He recently authored a new book, Sketching User Experiences: Getting the Design Right and the Right Design. Find out about the importance of user experience as it pertains to Interactive design and production by attending this invaluable keynote.
