nextPITCH Entry Guidelines

REGULATIONS

  1. To qualify for the nextPITCH competition entrants must be registered delegates of nextMEDIA 2006. Entry Deadline: Tuesday, May 30, 2006.
  2. Content producers must submit their proposed pitches using the online entry form.
  3. Delegates must be able to attend to pitch their entries at the nextMEDIA conference in Banff Alberta from June 9th to June 11th, 2006.
  4. Each production should be thirty seconds in length to a maximum of two minutes, total running time.
  5. Presentation pitches will be delivered to an international panel of judges at nextMEDIA.
  6. Pitches are limited to five minutes in duration.
  7. 10 finalists will be selected and contracted to deliver their pitches. 3 of the 10 will be selected as winners and awarded cheques of: $5,000 (first prize), $3,000 (second prize) and $2,000 (third) prize. All amounts are in Canadian dollars, to be budgeted for the production of the proposed winning concept as contracted with SUN TV.
  8. Each of the ten finalist's pitch presentations will be followed by a round of questions from the panel. After, ballots will be cast, the results tabulated and the winner(s) announced.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. A five minute pitch for an original cross-platform concept demo that can be broadcast on SUN TV, as well as delivered online on Canoe.ca, (among other platforms). Additional platforms can include podcasts, mobile content, website and other formats, as long as there are video elements that can be packaged and presented for broadcast. Project concept demos pitched must be thirty seconds in length. Projects must be original concepts developed exclusively for this competition.
  2. Projects must be the sole creative property of the production team. Eligible entrants certify that they own all rights to any content proposed and that SUN TV, Achilles Media, nextMEDIA and the nextPitch competition and any related parties, are indemnified and held harmless, and are not liable in the event of any dispute or contest with regard to rights and ownership of content, or any other legal actions.
  3. Projects geared toward innovative use of chosen media will be rewarded. Points will also be awarded for each applicant's marketing strategy, budget and content description as outlined in the online application form.
  4. The nextpitch competition is open to all paying nextMEDIA 2006 delegates who are Canadian content producers.

CONDITIONS

  1. Applications must be completed and verified by a certifiable Canadian content producer.
  2. All finalists must be available to pitch their projects in person and must be registered delegates of nextMEDIA 2006. Finalists are responsible for all of their own travel costs.
  3. Finalists must sign a contractual agreement with event producer, Achilles Media Inc.
  4. Only applications using the official online entry form will be considered.
  5. One submission may be made per paid delegate fee. Ten (10) delegates will be selected from the field for pitching at nextMEDIA - June 9th - 11th 2006, in Banff, Alberta.
  6. The Judges decision is final.
  7. Each winner must sign a SUN TV development contract and honour the terms of their development contract with SUN TV to receive funds. Winning prizes (concept development funding from SUN TV) must be applied toward a concept demo that can be broadcast on SUN TV, as well delivered online on Canoe.ca; but the use of additional platforms is encouraged (Podcast, mobile, and others).
  8. Achilles Media and nextMEDIA, as well as other related parties, will have the right to promote their involvement with the nextPitch competition and will have limited access for promotional purposes to the content created by winners.
