Shatner Shows No Signs of Stopping

While he may not be the next Governor General, William Shatner proved why he's such a cherished Canadian icon at BANFF 2010.

Greeted by a standing ovation, Shatner took part in a feature interview with "Big Bang Theory" creator Bill Prady at BANFF 2010 on June 16th at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Full of candid anecdotes, Shatner outlined his time at McGill studying economics, his early theatre experience, his eventual move to Stratford (where he understudied Christopher Plummer in Henry V ) and his music career that not only features the infamous cover of ?Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? but also includes a recent performance with Ben Folds. Shatner also reflected at length about the experience of playing Captain Kirk and the surreal transition from stage to Star Trek - a transition that would solidify Shatner?s international fame and iconic status.

Shatner went on to prove that at 79 years of age, he still isn?t ready to call it quits. He continues to work on the third season of his "Raw Nerve" talk show, while gearing up for his new sitcom "Sh*t My Dad Says" (a series based on Justin Halpern?s irreverent Twitter feed).

No stranger to social media, Shatner acknowledged the recent facebook campaign launched to nominate Shatner for Governor General. Shatner?s response? Maybe when he?s old ? he still has a lot to do. Shatner received the Lifetime Achievement award at the Banff World Television Gala on Tuesday, June 15th 2010.
